Summary
Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) is an ongoing, site-specific, and population-based surveillance system. PRAMS is designed to identify groups of women and infants at high risk for health problems, to monitor changes in health status, and to measure progress towards goals in improving the health of mothers and infants.

From FY2024 to FY2026, CDC lost about 30% of its workforce. Close to 70% of the Division of Reproductive Health, which oversees PRAMS, was impacted by the Reduction in Force in April 2025, including the team that manages PRAMS. They are currently on administrative leave protected by a court order. Moreover, grants supporting state implementation of PRAMS expired on April 30, 2026. Future funding remains uncertain, and as of May 2026, no public information was available regarding continued funding for the program.
