Datasets Terminated 38

Climate

Arctic Report Card (ARC)

Agency: NOAA

Peer-reviewed annual assessment of Arctic environmental conditions, published by NOAA every year since 2006.

Caveats: NOAA is ending coordination and administrative support, stating that coordination of the 2026 Arctic Report Card will not be facilitated through NOAA; the agency says the data it contributes will continue to be collected and remain publicly available. The Report Card's data portal is hosted by the NSF-funded Arctic Data Center rather than NOAA. The 2026 edition was already underway and may proceed under another sponsor. Date terminated reflects the date NOAA's decision was reported; no dated agency notice has been located.

Environment

Air Toxics Screening Assessment cancer risk estimates (AirToxScreen)

Agency: EPA

EPA's national screening estimates of cancer risk from hazardous air pollutants, published since 2002 and annually since 2022.

Caveats: The assessment continues — EPA posted 2021 air toxics emissions and concentration data and says it will keep doing so annually. What was dropped is the cancer risk calculation derived from it: the most recent risk assessment available in the mapping tool remains 2020, while EPA's own program page still describes AirToxScreen as providing risk analyses annually. The 2021 emissions data were posted in summer 2026 following outside pressure. EPA has not explained the omission, so Date terminated is inferred from the 2021 data release that omitted risk rather than from any notice.

Economy

Bureau of Economic Analysis Reductions in Reporting

Agency: BEA

Catch-all entry for the dozens of statistical tables BEA has stopped publishing, from metro-area GDP to industry wage detail.

Caveats: An umbrella entry covering roughly two dozen discontinued tables of varying significance, not a single dataset. BEA's published inventory spans 2024 through 2026, and a substantial share - including the July 2024, September 2024, and November 2024 rounds - predates January 2025. Only the March 2025 and later discontinuations are counted here. Date terminated is left blank because the entry covers many actions on different dates.

Health

Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS)

Agency: CDC

CDC and state health department survey of new mothers about their experiences before, during, and after pregnancy.

Caveats: Data collection is continuing as states fund it, standardized weighting and publication at the national level has ceased

Education

Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies, Cycle 2 (U.S. national files) (PIAAC)

Agency: ED

International assessment of adult literacy, numeracy, and problem solving; the U.S. fielded Cycle 2 in 2022-23 and published results, but the U.S. national data files were never released.

Caveats: OECD publishes an international dataset that includes U.S. cases, so the Cycle 2 data are not entirely unavailable. What was not released is the U.S. national public-use and restricted-use file, which NCES's own page promised by Spring 2025 and which historically carries variables unique to the United States — race and ethnicity and health among them — that the international file does not. Date terminated is left blank because the collection was completed rather than terminated; what is documented is a release that did not occur.

Sources

Disasters

Future Risk Index

Agency: FEMA

FEMA's interactive map projecting how much money climate-driven disasters would cost each U.S. county in the decades ahead.

Caveats: This is a model, not primary data, but it is an important product to come from the US Government instead of outside groups.

Sources

Education

National Household Education Surveys Program 2023 (NHES:2023)

Agency: ED

NCES household survey of parents covering early childhood care and education, parent involvement in schooling, and homeschooling.

Caveats: Reports from the 2023 collection were published in September 2024; the data files were never released. NCES's own page continues to advertise a late-2024 release. Earlier NHES files remain available. Date terminated is left blank because the collection was completed rather than terminated — what is documented is a release that did not occur.

Sources

Environment

Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP)

Agency: EPA

EPA program requiring roughly 8,000 large facilities and fuel suppliers to report greenhouse gas emissions every year.

Caveats: Still legally in force: EPA has only proposed ending the program, and the RY2025 reporting deadline was extended to October 2026.

Justice

National Law Enforcement Accountability Database (NLEAD)

Agency: DOJ

DOJ database of misconduct records for federal law enforcement officers, created so agencies could screen hires. Summary data published anually (only once in Dec 2025)

Economy

Producer Price Index - selected series (PPI)

Agency: BLS

Component series of the Producer Price Index that tracked the prices producers received for specific goods and services.

Caveats: Only selected component series were dropped; the Producer Price Index itself continues to be published.

Sources

Energy

Working and Net Available Shell Storage Capacity Report

Agency: EIA

EIA report of how much petroleum storage capacity existed at U.S. refineries, terminals, and pipelines, published twice a year.

Caveats: Last published May 31, 2024 with data for March 2024. EIA carried a forward release date on the page for nearly two years afterward - May 30, 2025, then June 30, 2025, then Summer 2026 - before replacing it with "Discontinued" in February 2026 without publishing. EIA now states: "We have discontinued publication of the Working and Net Available Shell Storage Capacity report."

Education

School Pulse Panel (SPP)

Agency: ED

Monthly NCES panel survey of public K-12 schools on fast-moving topics — staffing vacancies, student absenteeism, tutoring, and mental health services.

Caveats: A 60-day notice for the 2025-26 collection was published January 15, 2025 but never advanced to a 30-day package or OMB approval, and the last monthly collection was June 2025, released that September. Prior results remain posted. Date terminated reflects the final collection month; no termination notice was issued. SPP was established as a rapid-response instrument during pandemic recovery.

Agriculture

NASS State-Specific Reports

Agency: USDA

Crop and livestock reports tailored to individual states, published by NASS's state field offices.

Caveats: The underlying data are still collected and available through NASS's Quick Stats database; what ended is the state-report format.

Sources

Consumer finance

CFPB Consumer Complaint Narratives and Visualizations (CFPB)

Agency: CFPB

The free-text consumer complaint narratives and visualization tools published as part of CFPB's Consumer Complaint Database.

Caveats: The complaint database continues — CFPB is still collecting complaints, monitoring company responses, and sharing data with regulators. What ends is public publication of the free-text narratives and the visualization tools; previously published narratives move to CFPB's FOIA Reading Room, where they remain retrievable but not available in bulk. CFPB characterizes the publication as entirely discretionary. Date terminated reflects the agency's announcement.

Climate

Billion-Dollar Weather and Climate Disasters

Agency: NOAA

NOAA's running tally of U.S. weather and climate disasters causing at least $1 billion in damage, kept since 1980.

Caveats: The 1980-2024 archive remains online and Climate Central continues the tally with the same methodology and lead scientist; what ended is NOAA's updates.

Health

Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS)

Agency: USAID

USAID-funded household surveys that tracked health, fertility, and nutrition in more than 90 low- and middle-income countries for four decades.

Caveats: Other funders have stepped in to complete current rounds and make sure data are available historically.

Education

Progress in International Reading Literacy Study 2026 (U.S. participation) (PIRLS)

Agency: ED

International assessment of fourth-grade reading comprehension; the United States is absent from the 2026 cycle after participating in every round since 2001.

Caveats: The United States has participated in every PIRLS cycle since 2001 and does not appear on IEA's published participant list for 2026, which IEA gives as 64 education systems. The contract covering PIRLS, PIAAC, and PISA was terminated for convenience on February 12, 2025 and reinstated on March 6, 2025 in a modification titled for the international assessment program; no record reinstating the PIRLS scope has been located. NCES has issued no notice cancelling U.S. participation and we have received no statement from the Department — this entry records absence from the participant list, not an announced withdrawal. Date terminated reflects the reinstatement modification that excluded PIRLS. All prior PIRLS rounds remain available.

Sources

Demographics

Community Resilience Estimates Equity Supplement

Agency: CENSUS

Census product that layered income inequality and other equity measures onto its community resilience estimates for local areas.

Caveats: The evidence is a pair of archived captures showing the page live on February 2, 2025 and returning a 404 the following day. No discontinuation notice has been located; what is documented is removal from public access. Date terminated reflects the first capture returning 404.

Environment

U.S. Embassy Air Quality Monitoring Data

Agency: STATE

Air quality monitors at U.S. embassies that published real-time pollution readings for cities around the world.

Caveats: The monitoring network was a State Department program; EPA's AirNow was the publication venue, not the program owner. State turned off the network in March 2025 citing funding constraints, and roughly 17 years of readings were removed from airnow.gov.

Sources

Education

High School and Beyond 2022 first follow-up (HS&B:22)

Agency: ED

Longitudinal study of a national cohort of ninth-graders; the base year was collected and the planned spring 2026 follow-up was cancelled.

Caveats: The base-year ninth-grade data were released in DataLab on July 20, 2026 and remain available. What ended is the spring 2026 follow-up: the task order carrying it was terminated for convenience on February 10, 2025 and funding was deobligated on April 25, 2025. Date terminated reflects the contract termination. Termination for convenience is a routine federal contracting mechanism exercised at the government's election and does not indicate any deficiency in contractor performance.

Education

Teaching and Learning International Survey 2024 (U.S.) (TALIS 2024)

Agency: ED

OECD international survey of teachers and school leaders on working conditions and professional practice; the U.S. participated in 2024 but has published no national results.

Caveats: The United States participated in the 2024 round. For TALIS 2018, NCES published its U.S. results report in June 2019, concurrent with the OECD release; OECD published TALIS 2024 results including U.S. data in October 2025 and no U.S. report has appeared in the roughly ten months since. The most recent U.S. TALIS results on the NCES site remain from 2018. U.S. public-use data files historically follow the report by about two years and are not yet overdue. Date terminated is left blank — no termination occurred; what is documented is a report that did not follow the agency's own prior practice.

Sources

Federal workforce

Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS)

Agency: OPM

OPM's annual survey of the federal workforce, the government-wide measure of how employees viewed their jobs, leaders, and agencies.

Caveats: A successor survey is planned, but as a short common form each agency runs itself rather than OPM's standardized government-wide survey.

Education

National Teacher and Principal Survey (NTPS)

Agency: ED

NCES survey of teachers and principals, the federal government's main source on who staffs American schools, their pay, and their working conditions.

Caveats: The 2023-24 collection was completed and the data have not been released. NTPS runs on a three-to-four-year cycle and no cycle has yet been missed; its public-use files have historically appeared 24 to 36 months after collection, and the 2023-24 files are now roughly 30 months out. Date terminated is left blank because the collection was completed rather than terminated.

Energy

Monthly Solar Photovoltaic Module Shipments Report

Agency: EIA

EIA's yearly tally of solar panel shipments, tracking how many modules were shipped, at what price, and where.

Caveats: The last issue carried data through September 2024 and was released December 12, 2024. EIA scheduled the next release for April 15, 2025, then July 2025, then listed it as TBD, and by late 2025 marked it "Suspended" - the agency's own word, rather than discontinued. The slippage and the suspension all postdate January 2025. Date terminated is left blank because EIA has issued no termination notice and describes the report as suspended.

Education

Beginning Postsecondary Students, 2020 cohort second follow-up (BPS:20/25)

Agency: ED

Longitudinal study tracking first-time college students from entry through completion or departure; the planned 2025 second follow-up did not occur.

Caveats: The study is not fully terminated and earlier rounds remain available — the 2020/2022 data were released in DataLab in March 2026, and the contract remains active with modifications in March and June 2026. What ended is the 2025 second follow-up: the contract was terminated for convenience on February 10, 2025 and its total value cut by roughly $51 million while the NPSAS cross-sectional core was retained. Date terminated reflects that contract action. An RFI for NPSAS:28 includes optional BPS follow-up tasks, so a future cohort may begin.

Education

Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Class of 2022-23 follow-ups (ECLS-K)

Agency: ED

Longitudinal study following a national cohort of children from kindergarten through elementary school; the base year was collected and the planned follow-ups were cancelled.

Caveats: Base-year data release is funded and proceeding: a modification signed August 7, 2026 reinstated the requirement to complete the 2024 data release. What ended is the longitudinal design — the spring 2025 and spring 2027 follow-ups were cancelled when the contract was terminated for convenience on February 10, 2025, with roughly $59 million removed against a $359,000 add-back for the release work. Date terminated reflects that contract action. NCES had separately decided before March 2025 to drop a planned spring 2029 collection, which is not counted here.

International development

Development Data Library (DDL)

Agency: USAID

USAID's public library of the data produced by the projects and research it funded.

Caveats: The evidence is a pair of archived captures showing the portal live on January 16, 2025 and redirecting to a sign-in page by February 1 - a loss of public access rather than a documented decision to destroy the holdings. Date terminated reflects the first capture showing access closed.

Labor

Employer Information Reports EEO-1 through EEO-6 (EEO-1)

Agency: EEOC

EEOC's mandatory workforce demographic reports covering private employers, state and local government, and public school systems.

Caveats: PROPOSED, NOT FINAL. The EEO-1 through EEO-6 filing, recordkeeping, and record-preservation requirements at 29 CFR part 1602 remain in force and covered employers remain obligated to comply. On July 23, 2026 the EEOC published a proposed rule that would rescind them; no final rule has been issued and the comment period closes August 24, 2026. The Commission may adopt, modify, or withdraw the proposal. Date terminated is left blank because no termination has taken effect. Rescinding the rule would not by itself discontinue the underlying information collection — OMB control number 3046-0049 should be tracked separately.

Sources

Health

Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS)

Agency: CDC

Household survey measuring physical, sexual, and emotional violence against people aged 13 to 24, piloted in the U.S. in two Maryland communities.

Caveats: Only a two-county pilot was ever fielded in the United states, so what ended was a planned national survey rather than an ongoing one.

Immigration

Immigration Enforcement and Legal Processes Monthly Tables

Agency: DHS

DHS statistics office's monthly tables of immigration arrests, detentions, and deportations.

Caveats: Publication simply stopped after January 16, 2025, with no termination notice or formal decision on the record.

Energy

International Energy Outlook (IEO)

Agency: EIA

EIA's long-range projections of world energy production, consumption, and prices out to mid-century.

Caveats: A biennial modeling report rather than a data collection. The 2023 edition remains the most recent; EIA dropped the 2025 edition following staff losses and indicated at the time that it might publish later. No termination notice has been issued, so Date terminated is left blank.

Sources

Education

Indicators of School Crime and Safety (ISCS)

Agency: ED

Annual joint NCES-BJS compendium bringing together federal statistics on crime, violence, discipline, and safety in American schools.

Caveats: An annual compendium; the most recent edition was published July 25, 2024 and was the 26th. No edition has appeared in the roughly two years since, and the program site at nces.ed.gov/programs/crimeindicators/ now returns a 404. The report PDFs themselves remain posted. Date terminated reflects the termination for convenience of the supporting contracts; no discontinuation notice was issued, so the date is inferred from that action rather than from an announcement.

Agency: USDA

NASS's annual count of mink pelts produced and the farms producing them.

Other

Survey of Service Academy Students

Agency: GAO

GAO surveys of cadets and midshipmen at the five military service academies, with aggregate results and the questionnaires themselves published in GAO oversight reports rather than as a standalone dataset.

Caveats: The surveys continue. A removal of gender identity items could not be verified against the published questionnaires, and GAO, as a legislative branch agency, is not subject to Executive Order 14168.

Health

CAHPS Hospice Survey (CMS-10537) (CAHPS)

Agency: CMS

Medicare's hospice experience survey dropped a voluntary question asking whether a patient had been treated unfairly by the hospice team because of their race or ethnicity, a question approved in November 2024 but cut in April 2025 in response to executive orders before any answers were collected.

Caveats: The summary page for this approval says the burden fell because of "the removal of multiple items on the CAHPS Hospice Survey to shorten the document," but that sentence also appears word for word on the previous approval and does not describe this change; the crosswalk, the agency's change request memo and its supporting statement all list a single removed question and state there is no change in burden, and the recorded burden is unchanged at 168,116 hours.

Labor

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Joint Quarterly Narrative Performance Report (WIOA)

Agency: ETA

Quarterly narrative reports from grantees across DOL workforce programs including DWG, H-1B, NFJP, REO, SCSEP, and YouthBuild, posted publicly by DOL alongside national performance data.
